I've gotten a bit behind again, so let's just jump right in. Here's a review for BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER SEASON EIGHT NUMBER 2. The ass that it kicks is mighty: the art is amazing, and Joss Whedon's writing is amazing-er. That is Whedonspeak for "more amazing".

STEPHEN KING'S THE DARK TOWER: THE GUNSLINGER BORN issue number 2 is out, and we reviewed it. Marvel is proving that even without writing about super-powered folks in spandex, they are a comic force to be reckoned with. THE GUNSLINGER looks to be a comic classic in the making.

Marvel Comics has released the first issue of STEPHEN KING'S THE DARK TOWER: THE GUNSLINGER BORN is a class act all the way. Phenomenal writing, phenomenal art, and phenomenal presentation add up to a comic that is... well, phenomenal. Read the damn review, or, better yet, go pick up the first three issues, available now at your local comic book store.

So here is the review for the first issue of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER SEASON EIGHT. Though it should hardly come as a surprise to fans of Joss Whedon, he seems to be off to a phenomenal start. Look for the review of issue two in a few days.

I take it back. Before those other two comic reviews (30 DAYS OF NIGHT review is coming soon, I promise), you have to sit through more BUFFY. I have updated the preview with yet more information, gleaned from recent updates on the Dark Horse site about BUFFY SEASON EIGHT issues #2 and #3 (which, since the first issue isn't out for two weeks yet, are obviously still in the future: hence the "Preview" part of the equation). Since they are being "beamed to us directly from the future", so to speak, they obviously contain negligent amounts of spoilers. You have been warned. Click here for all the elicit details; the new information is at the bottom of the page, under "Update #2".

A little over two months later, and we finally have our answer. The first issue of BUFFY SEASON 8 is supposed to come out on March 15th, 2007. In addition, I've added some newly surfaced information about the comic gleaned from a few different sources. The new info is at the bottom of the preview page under the heading "Update: February 13th, 2007" and has new story, character, and information about the writers for the series other than Joss Whedon. For those of you not interested in BUFFY (and you should be ashamed of yourselves), expect reviews in the upcoming weeks for THE WALKING DEAD by Robert Kirkman and 30 DAYS OF NIGHT by Steve Niles to start things off.

File this one under "Gee, thanks".

Back in July, Dark Horse Comics announced a new comic series entitled BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: SEASON EIGHT. As the name suggests, the comic series is meant to take over where the television series left off (BUFFY the TV series ended in 2003 after running for seven seasons; five seasons on the WB, where it started, and two for UPN), and is to be penned by none other than series creator Joss Whedon.

However, when the series was announced, Dark Horse also said it was coming in October (of 2006, to be exact). Well, here it is November 2nd, and alas, there is no sign of the comic on the shelves. Inquiries sent to Dark Horse confirm that the comic is still coming, with an official release date of "sometime in 2007". One internet source, lists the release date as March, but that is not official word from on high. So the good news is that the Buffyverse will continue under the guidance of the good Mr. Whedon. The bad news is we don't know exactly when. But when I know for sure, you will know immediately after. Because that's just the kind of guy I am.

For more on the new BUFFY comic, click here. It may contain spoilers for those who haven't seen the BUFFY TV show up to and including Season Seven, in which case why are you reading about Season Eight anyway?

Welcome to the Comics Section! These days people mostly like to call them Graphic Novels, because it sounds all grown up and important. But that doesn't make them any more (or less) the Comic Books of yore. Plus, "comics" fits in the navigation bars better.

Anyhoo, this is the section to which you should come should you be looking for Comic News, Reviews of already published Comics (which henceforth will be a word reserved for speaking of individual monthly Comics, such as HELLBOY #181 for example) and Graphic Novels (a word which will henceforth refer to multiple issues of Comics compiled into trade paperback or hardcover, such as SANDMAN VOLUME 4: SEASONS OF THE MISTS), Previews of upcoming, yet to be released Comics and Graphic Novels, and Articles and Interviews relating to Comic Books and the writers and artists that create them.

If there is any features in particular you would like to see here, feel free to contact us and we will will do our best to oblige. In the meantime, check back frequently, as we should be adding content daily!
